Health Tests At Home???

Hello anxiety warriors, I seriously have been blown away by the amount of support all you guys give each other on @health_anxiety and the free group message. It sometimes brings tears to my eyes to see so many people feel less alone.
I recently have been interested in preventative health. I found a company letsgetchecked.com and decided to try out some of their at home tests. I got the basic vitamin test and the cortisol test (hello most stressful human ever -> ME!). The company letsgetchecked.com has tests from all STD tests, men’s health (hormone testing, cholesterol, heart health, etc.), women’s health (hormone testing, lyme disease, celiac, etc.) and then wellness tests like the two I got and other vitamin tests, diabetes tests, heart tests, etc. I like these at home tests because sometimes going to the doctor can be 1. a hassle 2. stressful and scary. If you are wanting to buy a test as a gift or for yourself use the discount code “nopanic15” at checkout for 15% off.
OKAY SO, cortisol. What is it? Cortisol is a steroid hormone that is released by the adrenal gland in response to stress or low blood glucose. It is responsible for controlling the body’s blood sugar levels, regulating metabolism, acting as an anti-inflammatory, influencing memory formation, controlling salt and water balance, influencing blood pressure and helping the development of a fetus in pregnant women. Cortisol stimulates the release of adrenaline and norepinephrine causing the “fight or flight” physical response in humans. (HELLOOO PANIC ATTACKS!!)
Symptoms of an unbalanced Cortisol include:
  • Severe fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Cognitive difficulties
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bone loss and weakness
  • High blood pressure
  • Decreased libido
  • Decreased fertility
  • Weight gain or weight loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Irregular periods
  • Low blood sugar
  • Diarrhea, nausea or vomiting
The other test I got was the basic vitamin test. This tested At home Vitamin test to identify vitamin B12, vitamin D and folate deficiencies with online results in 5 days.
Why is Vitamin D important? Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps to absorb the minerals calcium and phosphorous, playing a vital role in forming and maintaining strong bones and teeth, regulating normal immune system function, maintaining heart and lung health and combating depression. Why is vitamin B12 important? Vitamin B12 is one of the eight B vitamins. It is a water-soluble vitamin. Vitamin B12 is responsible for neurological function, producing DNA, maintaining a healthy nervous system and generating red blood cells which carry oxygen around the body. It is an essential nutrient in pregnancy. What is folate? Folate or folic acid, known as vitamin B9 generates red and white blood cells. It helps to produce DNA and RNA and sets out the building blocks for the rapid growth of cells during infancy, adolescence, and pregnancy.
You should monitor your vitamin levels as deficiencies may rule out underlying health conditions or explain symptoms such as exhaustion, brain fog, and nutritional issues.
So, I just received these test and will be taking the samples tomorrow (11/25/2018) and once I get my results I will 100% share with you guys!
I love these tests because they are preventative health and things your regular doctor does not usually test due to billing issues with insurance. I have never had a doctor just want to test my cortisol or vitamin levels.
Cant wait to share my results !!
